The relationship
AMITA operates as a community initiative of the CHERAF Foundation. CHERAF is the parent organisation; AMITA is the network it runs for Muslim technology professionals in the United States.
In practice this means AMITA's programmes, events and publications sit under CHERAF's wider mission, while AMITA focuses specifically on technology careers and community.
On legal and tax status
We describe AMITA as a community initiative of the CHERAF Foundation because that is accurate. We do not make claims about tax-exempt status on this site, and we will not solicit tax-deductible donations unless and until the relevant determination is in hand and can be evidenced here.
Why it is worth stating plainly
Organisational relationships are exactly the kind of thing that gets vague on nonprofit websites. We would rather write it down clearly, so anyone deciding whether to volunteer with, partner with or trust AMITA can see the structure.
